1,000hp Toyota Tacoma Pikes Peak Legend Attacks Goodwood
We recently brought you the 925hp Mini Pikes Peak racecar so there should be no surprise that the vehicles that compete there are on another level of performance. And this Toyota Tacoma is a prime example of that. It’s the very truck that Rod Millen used to dominate the 1998 and 1999 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. It has more than 1,000hp coming from a massively turbocharged 2.1L engine on tap that’s sent to all four wheels. And with a curb weight of 1,940lbs, this little truck is on another level of performance.
With that much power and such little weight, this Tacoma has better than what’s considered to be the “perfect” power to weight ratio of 1hp per 1kg. And with almost perfect 50/50 weight distribution and a low slung aerodynamic body, its one of the fastest vehicles to race at Pikes Peak. So when Rod Millen had a chance to race his monster Toyota at the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed, he jumped at the opportunity.
