The 8×8 Shaman Brings a Whole New Meaning to the Term All Terrain Vehicle

When it comes to all-terrain vehicles, it turns out that 8 wheels are better than 4. And very few can compete with the giant Shaman 8×8 built in Russia which brings a whole new meaning to the term All Terrain Vehicle. As you might’ve noticed, the Shaman is massive. It’s bigger in every way than a Suburban, or even a passenger van. One of the many features that set the Shaman apart from other offroad vehicles is of course it’s 8 wheels. Interestingly, all 8 wheels are individually powered, with individual steering and even suspension systems. That way they are able to work independently from each other, which really helps when the terrain gets tricky. As beneficial as 8WD is, it’s actually the tires themselves that make this vehicle as capable as it is.

They call them “low pressure” tires and because they are massive with such little air, they disperse the weight of the vehicle over a larger surface area. This allows the Shaman to “float” up on top of the snow, mud, dirt, and just about anything else you can think of, even water! That’s right, the Shaman is amphibious and can drive right into a lake or pond and safely get you across, although it might take a while because the top speed on water is only 1.5mph.
