We Take a Look Back at Ken Block’s Trax STi and it’s Still as Cool as Ever

A while back we talked about one of Ken Block’s many incredible vehicles, the Raptor Trax. So I felt it necessary to take a look back at the inspiration for that monumentally badass truck. It wasn’t a truck at all, as a matter of fact, it was just an old hatchback. Well, that’s actually a major understatement. It was a Subaru WRX STi that was given the rally car treatment.

The Trax STi made it’s debut at the 2009 SEMA show and was immediately a crowd favorite. One of the most obvious and significant upgrades is the Mattracks rubber track system which not only drastically improves performance when the snow starts to fall, but it also completely changes the aesthetics of the car. It’s not like the STi was an ugly car, but it sure looks a lot better sitting on four custom built tracks. Block also gave the STi the full rally car treatment as well. It’s been gutted and fitted with a roll cage just in case things get a bit too crazy. Which was a definite possibility thanks to a turbocharged 2.5L that produced 400hp and 400lb-ft of torque. Check out this video of the Trax STi in action.
