It Turns Out “Plus” Makes All the Difference in the Battle of the R8’s

The Audi R8 is one fantastic car and has been since it was first introduced back in 2006. Since that debut model, there have been numerous upgrades both to the cosmetics and performance aspects of the german supercar. Most notably on the performance side of things is when they added the option of the 5.2L V10 engine in 2008. This motor has since become one of the most respected V10’s ever produced. As a matter of fact, a variation of it was used in the Lamborghini Gallardo and is still used in the Huracan.

The latest version of the R8 comes in two different “strengths” I guess you could call it. One is the standard R8 V10, the other being the R8 V10 Plus. And you’d be surprised how much of a difference that “plus” makes. The base R8 V10 is putting out around 540hp where the Plus is closer to 610hp. So we’re only talking about a difference of 70hp and you wouldn’t think that would equate to a major difference in performance. However, I think you’ll be quite surprised to see how much of a difference it does make when you see the two cars face each other in a head to head drag race shootout.
