Watch This 900hp AC Cobra Fight For Traction in this Airstrip Shootout
When Carrol Shelby first built the AC Cobra he wanted it to have a small lightweight sports car body with a massively powerful V8 under the hood. Which is why it was an immediate success and is the quintessential muscle car. And while getting your hands on one of these original cars today would cost you millions, you can get a very well built replica that would fool even the most knowledgeable Shelby expert.
Take this gorgeous specimen here for example. It’s a modern day rendition of exactly what Mr. Shelby had in mind. Under the hood sits a Ford Coyote 5.0L V8 which is an extremely stout engine all by itself. But then the owner decided to take it up a notch and add a Whipple supercharger which brought the total horsepower up over 900. And to put this magnificent car to the test it was taken out to an airstrip attack in Colorado where he could really let the car stretch its legs. Although having that much power in such a small car makes it incredibly difficult to maintain traction. One thing is for sure, Mr. Shelby would be proud to see this car in action.
